Denta vs. dental insurance: compare your options
Compare Denta with major dental carriers, PPOs, HMOs, self-funded benefits, discount plans and cash stipends.

Denta combines direct reimbursement with in-network rates at participating dentists. If you want employer money to pay for eligible care at agreed prices, start there. Then compare the actual alternative your company would buy.
A carrier, a plan type and a funding model answer different questions. Delta Dental is a carrier brand. PPO describes a plan/network structure. Self-funded describes who pays. Our comparisons separate those decisions so you can choose the product that fits your team.

Use the same scorecard
For each option, compare the dentists your team uses, eligible services, employee payment, annual limits, full employer cost and who funds higher care use. Ask for the same treatment examples and enrolled group.
Denta’s membership and 5% transaction fee are separate from care funding. Include all three in your budget. Do not compare membership alone with another option’s complete premium.
Why Denta belongs on the shortlist
Direct reimbursement puts employer dollars toward care. Participating dentists’ agreed rates can help those dollars buy more. Denta brings the two together with the Denta Card.
That is our case for the product. The right choice still depends on the actual benefit, dentist access and cost for your team. Use the worked cost examples to turn the comparison into a budget.
