Denta vs. Beam Benefits: compare the model behind the experience

Both speak to employers who want simpler benefits. Compare Denta’s direct reimbursement with Beam’s dental plan features.

Denta combines direct reimbursement with in-network rates at participating dentists. Beam offers dental plans with digital tools and customizable benefits. The important distinction is the benefit and funding arrangement behind the experience, not which company has the more modern website.

If you want employer dollars to fund care directly, start with Denta. If you want an insured dental proposal with specific coverage features, include Beam in the comparison.

Give Beam credit for the features it offers

Beam’s dental page lists a provider finder, cost estimator and customizable plans. Its standard features include no waiting periods and no missing-tooth clause; it also says most plans cover implants. Actual coverage varies by plan.

Denta should not be compared with a fictional version of insurance that never covers implants or always imposes a waiting period.

Why Denta’s model matters

Denta makes care funding visible. The employer chooses an annual benefit and pays for eligible treatment as it is used. The network rate can help that benefit go further, and the Denta Card connects it to payment.

That is different from selecting a fully insured policy with a fixed premium. Direct funding can be attractive, but it also leaves the employer responsible for higher care use. Compare both an ordinary year and full use of the benefit.

Skip outdated toothbrush comparisons

Beam’s official Perks notice says that program ended in May 2025. It says the change did not end the underlying dental benefits. A current buying decision should focus on the quoted plan, not old descriptions of toothbrush rewards.

Which should your startup choose?

Choose Denta if direct reimbursement and participating rates are the product you want. A Beam option may fit better if its particular coverage features or insured funding arrangement suit your team.

Use the startup benefits guide to frame the decision and the cost guide to compare complete costs.
