Denta vs. MetLife dental: start with the employee’s visit

Compare Denta’s employer-funded care and agreed dentist rates with MetLife’s PPO and managed-care options.

Choose Denta for direct reimbursement with in-network rates at participating dentists. Compare MetLife when you want to evaluate its dental insurance options and provider access. The decision should turn on what an employee can actually do at the dentist—and what you pay to make that possible.

A national brand is useful context. The proposed benefit is what your employees will use.

What MetLife offers

MetLife’s employer dental page lists PPO and HMO/managed-care products. Its group dental guide provides further member information. Get the exact plan documents rather than assuming every MetLife option has the same network or cost sharing.

These are comparison criteria, not a claim that every MetLife plan has the same charges.

Make the example realistic

Ask the dentist for an estimate for a cleaning and a larger treatment. Record the procedure, agreed or allowed charge, benefit payment and employee balance under each proposal.

If employees have care underway, also ask how a transition affects that work. A lower headline fee is not helpful if someone misunderstands which arrangement handles a treatment that began earlier.

The Denta advantage

Direct reimbursement puts employer dollars toward eligible care. Participating dentists’ agreed rates help the benefit buy more. Denta brings those pieces together, with the Denta Card and explicit fees.

For illustration, a $150 eligible payment creates a $7.50 transaction fee in addition to the care cost; membership is separate. That is Denta’s fee arithmetic, not a MetLife price comparison. You need an actual MetLife quote and the employee’s treatment terms to compare totals.

When each option makes sense

Choose Denta when funding care directly and using participating dentists’ rates fits your company. A MetLife option may be a better fit if its specific network or policy benefits are more valuable to your employees, or if you prefer an insured premium arrangement.

Use our five-question checklist to make the final choice. If the MetLife proposal is a PPO, this plan-type comparison explains the next layer.
